Politics of Conscience & Credibility

In my considered belief, commitment unlocks the doors of imagination, allows vision that serves us with an opportunity to turn dreams into reality. With a firm focus on achieving desired results, I have always been a strong votary of reforms and turnarounds in my endeavours to bring about a positive transformation in the society. My credentials have propelled me into the league of top three Indian leaders by Asia Week magazine in its lead story “Giant on the Move”, further strengthening my resolve to strike a healthy balance between human development and fragile eco-system. I have always been a strong proponent of a system that not only ensures human development but also preserves the fledgling environment. While imbibing new technologies to keep pace with changing times, I have always fought to preserve the sanctity of environment. The quest for adopting newer technologies often throws up complex environmental issues. I have always advocated a participatory policy that thrives on transparent decision-making. If I have been able to take some decisions of far-reaching consequences it is thanks to the wide cross-section of people and stakeholders who have made enlightening suggestions in the true spirit of democracy.
I have been laying emphasis on public policy and decision-making being sympathetic to environmental concerns. Development does not have to come at the cost of environmental depredation and I feel fulfilled to know that I have been able to strike a harmony by seeking a whole-hearted engagement of the people.

Sights set firmly on delivering milestones; I have always strived to redefine the parameters of growth with changing times. My commitment has been guided by zero tolerance for corruption and probity in public life. In my credo, education should be a healthy catalyst in any good human endeavour. I am presently pursuing two doctoral programs in Climate Change and Economics in Germany and Mumbai while being a humble recipient of honorary doctorates in India. It has bolstered the courage of my conviction that education is a powerful weapon that one can use to change the world for better.
